98 min of sheer brilliance: My quick take on Puneet Rajkumar’s “Gandhada Gudi”

I was awestruck to see the richness of flora and fauna my mother state Karnataka possess, the ecological treasure it holds in its evergreen forests of Malenaad (my native place) is simply breathtaking. This documentary captures the richness in biodiversity of Karnataka in a very impressive manner, wild filmmaker and director of this project Amoghvarsha has to be commended because he did not end up making a ‘yet again type of documentary’ which would have made likes NG OR David Attenborough proud, instead he took us on the path of discovery using super Star Puneet in the screenplay.

Puneet's endearing presence in what can be called his ‘swan song’ performances makes the movie a must-watch. Puneet is trying to discover his family roots in the documentary, hence the trail starts from the forests of Gajanur, the place where his illustrious father Dr. Rajkumar was born. Director Amoghvarsha who is accompanying the megastar is on a discovery trip too, he is trying to discover and uncover the real man behind the Super Star Puneet Rajkumar.

The trek covers the entire length and width of Karnataka, and even if it makes you take deep dive in the waters of the ARABIAN sea, the coral reef near this heart-shaped island (Netrani) near Mangalore is simply wow. It also highlights our rich man-nature bond where the tribals rever and worship mother nature. James Cameroon will be surprised to see his Eva tree concept as shown in Avataar, is a reality amongst our tribals.

Though it is a documentary movie, the makers have packed enough drama, emotions, and thrill to keep you glued to the chair. I have found this GG an engaging and enlightening experience about the rich biodiversity of namma-Nadu and Puneet’s presence makes it a must-watch (we miss you, Dear Puneet).

Don't miss it
