Carry on thrill : My quick take on movie “Carry-On” (Netflix)
I’ll admit, when I saw the title Carry On, I braced myself for a reboot disaster of the beloved British comedy series of yore (I’ve grown up with Carry on Doctor, Carry on Matron and few others ).You know, the ones with their cheeky humor and oh-so-quaint hospital shenanigans. But Netflix had other plans—plans involving thrills, chills, and some serious in-flight turbulence.
Picture this: a young airline security guard (Taron Egerton) finds himself blackmailed into smuggling a dangerous piece of baggage onboard. Cue the high-stakes drama as he’s forced to make life-or-death decisions mid-flight. Will he cave under pressure? Will he outsmart the bad guys? Or will he just hope someone hits “pause” to give him a break?
The plot doesn’t just move; it jets forward at such a breakneck pace, you’ll need your seatbelt firmly fastened. Yes, there are moments where the storyline stretches credibility like overstuffed cabin luggage, but who’s complaining? The makers keep you so riveted you won’t even care if gravity occasionally gets defied.
Egerton nails the reluctant hero vibe, while Jason Bateman’s antagonist adds just the right dash of icy menace. Their performances anchor this popcorn-fueled rollercoaster of a movie.
So, is this Carry On the nostalgic, cheeky romp I grew up with? Not a chance. But is it a pulse-pounding, edge-of-your-seat thriller that delivers on its promise? Absolutely. Hop aboard—this is one ride worth taking.
