Coexisting with Covaxin

Coexisting with Covaxin: My quick take on Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Vaccine war” (Theatrical release)

A tale of triumph, the saga of unwavering commitment, story of telling the world that India can do it, Mera Bharat, indeed, is truly mahān – a land where aspirations soar, barriers crumble, and where the indomitable human spirit conquers all odds.

Take a bow Vivek agnihotri for bringing to light the story of all those unsung heroes rather heroines, who saved billion plus lives by giving us Covaxin. A must watch movie not only for every Indian, but also for every surviving world citizen who outsmarted deadly covid. It's a salute to the dedication of unsung scientists of ICMR and IVR, who literally burned the midnight oil, fighting all odds, to come up with this magic drug.

Hats off to the direction of Vivek Agnihotri who also wrote the screenplay based on the book “Going Viral” by Dr Balram Bhargav. He did a tightrope walk by not making a docu-drama nor becoming a official press note of government. He won half battle by cherry-picking his cast, Nana Patekar as Dr Balram Bhargav, Pallavi Joshi as Dr Abraham and surprise package was Raima sen playing the spicy role of media influencer. (Dont be surprised if either of them bags a national award for their performance this year). It was nice to see the kantara girl Saptami Gowda and the gun-weilding sidekick of SRK’s jawan gang Girija Oak bagging meaningful roles.

Although the length of movie seems to be bit long (2 hrs plus), VFX used looks bit elementary and jumpy editing makes the movie a bit jarring. But all this takes a back seat when you get to see “Only science can win this war” and a strong message of peaceful coexistence (mind you we have not patented this vaccine unlike others) and tale of courage, conviction and commitment backed by exemplary performances , then all you can say is that यही है आत्मनिर्भर भारत, मेरा भारत महान.

Dont miss it.
