Devil wears dhoti

Devil wears Dhoti 😜: My quick take on “Devil- the British Secret agent (Amazon prime)

Devil - the British secret agent" on Amazon Prime takes a stylish twist where Devil ditches Prada for a chic dhoti, although the connection with Meryl Streep's Devil Wears Prada is as distant as a penguin in the Sahara. In this cinematic cocktail of murder mystery, historical fiction, and a somewhat misguided attempt at a Massey period drama, the filmmakers aimed for a scrumptious Hyderabadi biryani but ended up serving a disappointingly bland khichadi.

The film unfolds as a testament to a missed opportunity, possessing a story that could have been on par with RRR but lacks the enchantment of Rajamauli’s brilliance. Enter Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, a one-man army and Ranjnikant’s BHANJA, who can handle platoons, bullets, and even push a jeep as if it were a stroll in the park. Thallaiva would probably give this guy a standing ovation.

Set in a fictional village where British officers are deadlier than General Dyre, the straightforward plot revolves around the question of whether they succeed in nabbing Netaji (Azad Hind Sena) or not. The film succumbs to the temptation of playing to the gallery with over-the-top action, songs, and lame comedy.

Viewed in Kannada on Amazon Prime (not available in Hindi yet), the film impresses with its production quality and location choices, though a bit more attention to storytelling and direction wouldn't have hurt. In a nutshell, it's a masala-packed, entertaining, full-time pass film – perfect if you're in the mood for kung fu in a dhoti and don't mind the Meryl Streep disappointment, but otherwise, you might want to skip this devilish adventure.
