Dhoom Dhaam (Netflix) – A Dhoom or a Dumb Damn?
If you live for the raunchy chaos of The Hangover, you might just tolerate Dhoom Dhaam. If not, well… welcome to Dumb Damn, a plain vanilla comedy with a splash of adult humor, a truckload of whacky characters, a cranky plotline, and enough PJs to make WhatsApp uncles jealous. It’s the kind of no-brainer movie that asks you to leave your brain at the door and lock it outside for safety.
The film follows an oddly adorable couple, played superbly by Yami Gautam (effortlessly charming) and Pratik Gandhi (who seems to be enjoying an extended vacation from Madgaon Express). Their love story kicks off in traditional Bollywood fashion with a “ladki dekhna” session, followed by a shaadi, and then, just as they’re about to enjoy their suhaag raat, the plot crashes harder than a cheap WiFi connection.
Suddenly, goons crash their honeymoon suite, demanding to know the whereabouts of a mysterious “Charlie.” Who is Charlie? A person? A dog? A stolen diamond? Your patience running away? Who knows! All we do know is that from that moment on, the newlyweds are on the run, and the movie shifts into full buffoonery mode—reminiscent of the It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World kind of chaos, but with less wit and more confusion.
If you love goofy chases, slapstick humor, and loud caricatures, this one might just work for you. If not, you might have more fun scrolling through India-Pakistan post-match memes, which—let’s be honest—offer better storytelling and punchlines.
