Dukhantalam đ : My quick take on âShakuntalamâ (Amazon Prime)
A shoddy output of Kalidasâs classic. Sometimes I feel we should stop unimaginative, âextraâordinary and amateurish movie makers to work on Indian classics and come out with a product inferior to any tele-play. This is a good enough testimony how bad and unimaginative use of CGI can turn a classic saga into a fast forward able tale.
Nothing in the movie impressed me, not even Samantha , who plays the titular role and who is the daughter celestial apsara Menka somehow did not fit the bill (she does not look heavenly nor looked angelic). Dev Mohan as Dhushyant looked good but his role was not well written. The Hindi dubbing was horrible, especially the songs were simply forgettable đ. The action scenes are very elementary. And to make things worse the CGI quality was atrocious. (PS4 video games have better graphics)
What could have become Indiaâs answer to any âDisneyâ product , ended up becoming a âdismalâ product. The plot and drama happen because of जŕĽŕ¤°ŕ¤žŕ¤Ş of sage ऌŕĽŕ¤°ŕĽŕ¤ľŕ¤žŕ¤¸ŕ¤ž , looks like the here the जŕĽŕ¤°ŕ¤žŕ¤Ş got applied to entire movie đ¤Ş. Just a silver lining in the cloud was when i heard the deep Baritone of Kabir Bedi who plays the Sage Kashyap.
If you are the type who loves decking up your home with plastic flowers and plants from 10 Dhs shops, then you may enjoy this gaudy, ornate and plastic ambiance created by the makers.
