Emperor's new clothes

Emperor’s new clothes 😁: My quick take on “Code name: Emperor (Netflix)

We all must be remembering the folktale by Hans Christian Anderson about an Emperor and his ‘illusion’ about his new clothes similarly it looks like Netflix is under the illusion that anything Spanish must be a good movie/series especially when it comes to the crime thriller genre. In the process, the audience (rather me) had to endure a दिगंबर दर्शन of this emperor 😜.

Just stay away from this so-called thriller and save your valuable 90 minutes. Though the premise of the movie is impressive wherein ‘agencies’ become extra vigilant about politicians who are clean with a spotless reputation (दया कुछ तो गड़बड़ है type वाला plot). Not sure if it was due to the ‘adapting’ process (Spanish to English) the continuity of the plot went for a toss or the original story itself was pathetic.

There are so many subplots in the story which gives a feel of ‘patchwork’ because of which you get a feeling of watching a web series randomly wherein so many characters get introduced randomly. I have watched many Spanish movies / web series in past, in spite of that I could not recognize anybody or any face from the cast. The main lead Luis Tosar in the role of Juan (inspector) is impressive and so is Alexandra who plays a Philipino domestic help is very impressive. बाक़ी सब कुछ फास्ट forwardable.

Plot ends in a way that it gives enough fodder for our creativity, and as an audience you do an educated guess that a sequel is likely to come.

Stay away, save mind and save time 😎
