Japani John wick with Extra Soy Sauce and Zero Logic! : My quick take on the movie “Demon City” (Netflix)

A Bloody, Mindless, and Utterly Absurd Ride

Did I just watch a manga anime or a manga-inspired slasher fever dream? My first reaction—ये तो मार्को or जॉन विक का छोटा भाई है! If Marco was a high-octane bloodbath, Demon City is its over-the-top, sushi-flavored cousin, dipped in wasabi-level absurdity.

The plot? Oh, don’t even ask. It’s the same घिसा पिटा “जानी, इस धंधे में आ तो सकते हो, लेकिन बाहर नहीं जा सकते” cliché that Bollywood stopped using only because even 90s villains got tired of it. Our lead—a hitman who was once wheelchair-bound—suddenly discovers the ability to defy medical science, gravity, and common sense, jumping straight into action sequences that feel like The Raid met Dragon Ball Z after binge-watching bad slasher movies.

The action? Oh, it’s well-choreographed—if by “well” you mean “so ridiculous that even WWE stunts look realistic.” The fight sequences are relentless, the gore is gut-churning, and the blood splatters like Holi gone wrong. If you love mindless slasher flicks in the John wick/Marco or The Raid style, this one’s your jam. But if you prefer things like plot, character depth, or basic common sense, look elsewhere.

In short, Demon City is a 90-minute Instagram reel disguised as a movie, where the only thing more shredded than human bodies is the script itself. Watch it if you can stomach relentless carnage. Otherwise, skip it—this is one demon that won’t haunt you.
