Jawan-e-Janeman : My quick take on SRKs “Jawan”
It was a very noisy experience watching this Massey pot boiler yesterday. Nearly half of the movies dialogs were faded by the whistles and shouts by the escatic audience. Atlee, the young director has delivered yet another masala movie in line with Bigil, Theri and Mersal albeit at Pan India level, making a 58yrs old play a Jawan 😉.
One might get a feel of Shankar/kamalahassan’s “Indian” while watching this Jawan, who believes in vigilante justice. (mind you Atlee was a understudy with Shankar).I felt like watching a south indian hit film dubbed in Hindi (टेलीफोन धुन में बजनेवाली type ….😉) where the protagonist is a crusader is against all social and political ills. The movie is fast-paced, packed with high-voltage action, it also has romance, comedy, double roles, cameos and social messages galore. It could be a good movie on women empowerment telling society “बेटी बढ़ावो, और अन्याय के ख़िलाफ़ लड़ावो”
King khan takes off from where he left in Pathan, he looks fit as fiddle especially in action scenes. Ravishing Nayantara is simply awesome, she stands tall in front of SRK. she should be called नयनसुख 😎instead, as she not only looks stunning but also fares well in action shots. Vijay Sethupati is the antagonist who plays a moneybag behind all corrupt policies and politicians, he too is impressive in his bad-man’s avatar.
I only wish the writer had avoided giving the audience gyan on whom to vote, how to vote and made the plot bit apolitical. Because it mildly assumes an anti-establishment propaganda. On the positives, the action sequences are carefully manicured, especially the starting scene in some NE tribal village and a mummified hero gets resurrected, BGM though loud at times (क्या करेगा? KGF हैंगओवर जो है ) goes well with scenes, some cameos will make you sit on edge of the seat, overall its full time pass masala movie. Looks like director Atlee knew that after success of Pathan SRk’s केट्ली is hot, hence make the most of it.
