Lion अभी ज़िंदा है: My quick take on “Mufasa - The Lion King” (Disney+)

Let’s start with the good news — cinema has been rescued. And no, not by someone hanging off a helicopter while chewing protein bars. But by Mufasa — the king, the myth, the mane with a plan.

Because after the double dose of Sikandar and L2 Empuraan, Mufasa felt like someone finally opened the windows and let storytelling back into the room.

But don’t be fooled. This isn’t a snobbish, artsy animal saga.

No sir. Mufasa ticks every box on the Great Desi Potboiler Checklist.

Love triangle? Check.

Romance? Oh yes.

Songs? Plenty.

High-octane action? Roaring.

Deceit? Double-crossed and delivered.

ख़ून का बदला? Yup, vengeance with vintage flair.

भाईचारा, दोस्ती, दुश्मनी? Packaged and purring.

Honestly, Manmohan Desai fans, rejoice — this is your jungle मेले में बिछड़ना plot… except here, it’s flood में बिछड़ना, because, you know, animals and grandeur and drama! You name it, the screenplay has it — and somehow, it still flows smoother than half our multi-starrer Bollywood chaos-fests.

The CGI? Nothing short of breathtaking.

It’s so realistic you feel like you’re watching an Animal Planet episode shot with IMAX drones and divine lighting. Every whisker, every ripple, every tear in Simba’s eye — crafted like poetry.

Take a bow, team Disney. Actually, take a standing ovation while you’re at it.

The dialogues? On point.

Wise without being preachy. Fun without being flaky. The voice-overs? Smooth as butter on a hot paratha. And yes, the Hindi dub version has its own charm — especially with some familiar Bollywood voices lending gravitas and chuckles in equal measure.

The songs? Look, they may not dethrone Hakuna Matata, but they’re still adorable enough to make you sway in your seat. They won’t echo through generations, but they will echo through your evening.

Only regret?

I watched it on Disney+ OTT.

This film was built for the big screen. Wide. Wild. Wondrous.

Should’ve caught it on IMAX, but alas — Simba still roared through the flat screen, and that says something.

Mufasa – The Lion King is not just cinema, it’s a celebration. A royal reminder that you can blend soul with spectacle, drama with depth.

“Bora Kabisa” - For delivering a roar that healed our high-decibel wounds and reminded us why we fell in love with storytelling in the first place.
