Lost track: My quick take on the web series “Wrong side of the track” (Netflix)
My spontaneous reaction after watching the pilot episode and the following episode was “Boss, this can be made into a great Hindi masala movie”, I even started to cast a few actors like Big B in the lead. The Series takes off with a lot of promisees, here a tough Bosnian war veteran Triso is living in a notorious neighborhood filled with gangs, gals and drugs. He will remind you of खड़ूस lawyer of Pink played by BigB or Clint Eastwood of Gran Torino, because here too the pace of the plot shoots up when he gets a call from his granddaughter at the wee hour of the night seeking his help.
After Triso picks his granddaughter from this notorious neighborhood, he discovers that she is carrying a kg of the drug in her bag. Once the plots outline is set, then the director introduced various characters of the story one by one. The main characters are the immediate family of Triso which include his son and daughter who are married and who live separately. Triso also has two of his ex-army buddies in the neighborhood. Two episodes are spent in Plot’s set up and character building and in turn it sets up a good premise for what could have been a great action thriller with a revenge saga. But then the web series turns into a Balaji telefilm-like soap opera and the thriller becomes a bagbaan-type family drama, interspersed with lame comedy and following 5 episodes become a painful drag.
I somehow managed to finish watching this Spanish series (now dubbed in English) only to realize that there is a new season 2 on the way 😳. Season 1 itself gave me a feeling that I was on the wrong side of track 😁, not sure what Season 2 is about to serve you.
I am a big fan of the Spanish language web series, but this one is a disappointment. Just in case, you dare to watch it, then avoid watching it with kids, as it has some skin show.
