Low thrill, yet watchable

Low thrill, yet watchable: My quick take on Amazon prime’s series “Bestseller”

Contrary to its title, the best part of this "Bestseller" is that it is not a "Best thriller," but the 30–35-minute length of each episode makes it a binge-worthy series. The plot has a Hitchcockian feel to it, with the "who" of the plot made obvious early on in the series, but the "why" of the plot keeps you invested.

One reason to invest your time in the series is its cast, which includes some new and beautiful faces such as Shruti Hasan, Arjun Bajwa, Gauhar Khan, and Satyajit Dubey, but the veteran Mithun Dada, who plays "Karamchand" in this thriller, is a showstopper, along with his kitty played by Marathi actress Sonali Kulkarni (I am bit surprised to see this BIG name of Marathi movies doing non-descript role). The second reason could be the fantastic Mumbai locations and the tall skyline depicted in films, as well as the impressive outdoor locations of Rajasthan and Uttarakhand – Congratulations to the cinematographer.

This revenge saga is laced with issues of plagiarism and ethics; however, I wish the plot was more potent and packed with intrigue to keep you on the edge of your seat. The predictable ending indicates that season 2 is on the way. Hopefully, Season 2 will be more interesting.

It'll be like drinking ENO without the fizz; you'll miss the froth, but it'll still taste the same.
