My quick take on Vidyut Jammwal’s “Khuda Haafiz”
This Independence Day I had a plate full of movies/series to watch and it was sheer coincidence that all three had something to do with my ‘Desh’ prem. I have already reviewed the “Gunjan Saxena-The Kargil girl”, the second was a damn impressive web series “Avarodh – The siege within” (My take – Work in progress) and the third one is this “Khuda Haafiz”.
After the unimpressive performance in the period drama of Yaara, the handsome hunk has given somewhat better performance in this movie. Looks like he is trying his best to come out of his muscle rippling bare hand combat expert image, maybe he wants to leave that space to Tiger shroff. The plot of the movie is similar to Tiger’s Baaghi 3, where the tiger is on a prowl to get back his brother from foreign land while here Vidyut is looking out for his wife who goes missing in a fictional country called ‘Noman’.
The good thing about the movie is that it has shown VJ as an ordinary middle-class person who without doing any ‘herogiri’ solves the human trafficking case in a foreign land. He is ably supported by talented Anu Kapoor, who plays a Pathan Taxi driver and someone who goes out of the way to help VJ in his Mission.
This fictional country is set in the beautiful capital of Uzbekistan Tashkent and picturesque town of Bukhara. The cameraman has done full justice in capturing the beauty of this ethereal place which is not yet shown on Bollywood screens.
Music by Mithoon is one more reason you should watch the movies, few tracks are simply awesome.
Predictable plot is made watchable by extraordinary performances by VJ and Anu Kapoor Jodi, even the supporting cast with funny Arabic - Hindi accent are tolerable. I only pray that VJ does not say “Khuda Haafiz” to his USP of flexing muscles on the screen, he should continue doing movies like commando once in a while.
