कल करेसो आज कर ….: My quick take on Amazon Prime’s ‘The Tomorrow War’

Just imagine, in 2019 you were able to time travel into the future wherein you would have stemmed the spread or creation of the CoVID Virus, wow the entire world would have been grateful to you, isn't it!!

This is precisely the premise of this sci-fi with aliens, time travel, wormholes, Domesday preventing saga. Concept wise it's not a very ‘novel’ story where one time travels to the future just to iron out some blemishes of the past, however, the execution of it is damn impressive in the movie.

Chris Patt, a war veteran who is now teaching biology in a local school is drafted into the fight to vanquish an alien species (white spikes) and is teleported to the future in 2051. In the future, he is commanded by his daughter, a bioengineer who is working on an ‘anti-alien serum (la antivirus). This serum works like a toxin on these alien arthropods, which is brought back to the present to mass-produce. The source of aliens is traced back to a spaceship that had crash-landed in the Siberian part of Russia some 1000 plus years ago. Our hero then travels to Russia with a bunch of fighters and gets rid of these roaches who are in embryonic stages. ढ्यानटेंढ्याएंग…. In short, it's a damn predictable plot.

If you love mindless action with automatic guns spitting out deadly rounds of bullets, shapeless bug-like flesh-eating aliens, wonderful CGI, and great action choreography then you should not miss this war. Else for me, the best Alien movie I have ever enjoyed was the 1979 Alien wherein a tough cookie played by Sigourney Weaver, as it was a new concept then and the direction of Ridley Scott was simply awesome. The horror that you felt watching this 79 cult classic is missing here, maybe the makers should have time-traveled back to 79 and sought some good advice from Scott 😜.
