यड की खुळ !!!

यड की खुळ: My quick take on Ritesh’s movie ‘वेड’

When this movie is doing extremely well at the box office , when critics are going gaga with five-star reviews, and if millions are liking the mellifluous music by Ajay-Atul, it will be foolhardy of me to be critical of this Telugu movie remake (which was a Japanese/Korean movie rip off), and if I do so I will be termed as यड की खुळ 😜.

The movie is worth watching and enjoyable provided you have not watched the Telugu original ‘Majili’ which is freely available on Youtube in its Hindi dubbed version. I did this mistake, hence got into an unwanted comparison. The plot of the movie defies the transitive law of maths which says if A=B, B=C then A=C, here Ritesh loves Jia, and Genelia loves Ritesh but does Ritesh loves Genelia? this is the premise of the movie in short.

The plot has all the sensibilities which today's teens will love to see it on screen, namely cricket and teenage romance. This is superbly complimented by very well-orchestrated symphonies composed by Ajay Atul, plus these are beautifully choreographed too. One can watch the movie precisely for these reasons. While I Dont understand why people are talking so high about Ritesh, the director? Because I have noticed that it is a GT (my Engg friends will understand this better 😜), hence you will find lots of frames ditto copied, (even the hotel room number is the same in the copy - why?), even the dialogs are translated verrbatim.

On the performance front, Ritesh’s Kabir singhish avatar is good, His love interest played by Jiayshankar is also good (she reminds you of अपून के ज़माने की काजल किरण), effortless Ashok Saraf is his usual self, young Khushi Hazare is the real पटाका of the plot, on her entry she injects life into the movie which till then was on dull flight mode. Cute looking Genilia is the real ’ear sore’ in the movie, I wish she was a mute character, because her maraathi diction is simply horrible. Oh yes, Bhaijaan also shakes his legs during end credits, I really don’t know what value addition he brought to the plot.

One can watch it in theaters as of now, else if you can wait a bit then it will be available on OTT soon (maybe Zee5)
