Absurd, ludicrous inane villain

Absurd, ludicrous inane villain: My quick take on “Ek Villain Returns”

The performance of John Abraham is so much ‘wooden’ that even a tiger in the movie refuses to eat him 😜. There is absolutely nothing worth mentioning in my take about this inane villain. I watched it because of a hangover of earlier movie ‘Ek villain’ and Manoj muntashirs तेरी गलिया, expecting similar magic in this Korean remake too. Instead, this risible movie made me come up with my ‘मेरी गालियाँ’ 😁.

Though everyone is refuting that it is not a remake of any Korean movie, the plot and overall feel of the story confirm that it's a rip-off of some फ़िरंगी movie. because none of the characters can identify with our desi ethos. A budding singer played by Tara Sutaria, her spoilt brat lover played by Arjun Kapoor, he is accused of killing Tara. Then enters an inspector Ganesan played by Satya fame Chakravarty who has a gut feeling that Arjun is not the villain. Meanwhile there is a masked serial killer in the town who is killing बेवफ़ा girls. is this killer John Abraham? Who is part time cabbie, part time zoo keeper who keeps on feeding a tiger with some kind of flesh. His love interest is Disha Patni, a sales girl in a garment store who loves flouting her well-toned body.

Messy screenplay tries best to confuse the audience in the guessing game as to who is the masked and hooded assassin. But alas, neither the plot not the performances can hold your attention. Secondly there is no Manoj muntashir to bail you out here, even though the “galliya” song is remixed and replayed but it's magic is all gone. On performance front, Arjun Kapoor has lost some if his baby fat hence looks more fitter in the role, he too joins likes of Tara, Disha and John to prove who is the most expressionless actor in the industry. John of course proves that he is as wooden as the trojan horse of troy and he can replace the terminator robot in cameroon’s next movie. 😜

Movie ends with a shot of ‘villain’ of first movie (Ritesh Deshmukh) giving us hint that the trilogy is in offering “Ek Villain’s retun ticket 😎” , OMG that idea itself gives me goosebumps, if so, then gear up for one more preposterous villain.
