Awesome Asur 2.0

Awesome Asur 2.0 : My quick take on ‘Asur 2’ (jiocinema)

Seldom I have come across a sequel to a movie or web series which more interesting and intriguing than it's predecessor, Asur’s season 2 is one such superior product. I had titled my take of Asur 1 as Awesome Asur, hence it was quiet but natural to title this take as Awesome Asur 2.0, simply because it deserved to be called awesome.

The plot and storyline is the extension of it's season one, where there is a cat n mouse chase between CBI and a serial killer. Hats off to writers who have beautifully blended the elements of our mythology into a contemporary crime thriller. This experiment is commendable as nowadays it is a tightrope walk for many who dare to take liberties with our ancient text (Om Raut knows it better 😜) , the battle of धर्म and अधर्म, conflict of कली and कलकी, manifestation of कलियुग, everything is beautiful adapted and set in present world.

For the lovers of web series like ‘Dark’ or “1899”, you will feel proud that an Indian content series can match them. No it is not as complex as ‘Dark’, one need not know about कल्किपुराण to decipher this plot, beauty of the series is that you can watch it as a crime thriller and still find it intriguing.

A brilliant cast, crisp editing, mind-blowing direction and haunting title track will make you binge-watch the series. Arshad Warsi continues well from where he left in s01, his performance can be compared with his performance in movie ‘Sehar’. Varun Sobti also has done one hell of role so does all the actors.

The series aptly boasts a tagline “India’s biggest crime thriller returns”, hence in my view, it's a must-watch series.

Makers have given enough hints of S03, only wish they keep up the good work and the writing does not slacken. After all they talk about “The beginning is the end, the end is the beginning” (like a Do loop of coding 😎) - अंतः अस्ती प्रारन्भ
