Beautiful Latin Americas: My quick take on Netflix’s web series “La Reina del sur s03”
This ‘extra long’ season with as many as 60 episodes is as engaging and thrilling as its first two seasons. Looks like this series was made for television hence the episode length is around 30-40 mins, one may get reminded of our DD serials like Hum log or Buniyaad which would run for years.
The series starts where the s02 ends, with Teresa Mendonca serving her life term in US jail. She is then rescued from jail and she is on the run to clear her name and to unite with her daughter Sophia, who is now a grown-up teenager. while sitting through the 60-episode-long series you will get to do a “Latin America darshan”, needlessly to mention that cinematography of the series is of top-notch quality. It will take you to many south American countries like Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, and Columbia, where you will get to see some of the scenic landscapes of these LA countries like the sublime mountain landscapes of Machu Picchu, Uyuni salt flats of Bolivia, cute and cuddly Llamas.
Kate del Castillo (she will remind you of buxom TV star Navneet Nishan 😉) plays the pivotal role of Teresa Mendonca, she fits into this badass character very well, plus there are many South American stars of which I was impressed by Humberto Zurita, he plays the main antagonist. His act will remind you of our Kanhaiyalal or Jeevan, who are physically very puny characters but just by forceful oratory they can psych any opponents.
Like the earlier two seasons, even this one is available in Spanish language only, but English subtitles will make yr job easy. Secondly, the makers have kept the dialogs in local/native languages which adds authenticity to the plot. One may find 60 episodes a bit longish, but बॉस फूकट्में south अमेरिका का दर्शन जो होगा 😁
The saga of survival, redemption freedom and of course बदला, Can be watched, if you have plenty of
time. Its available on Netfliix.
