Big, Bold and Brazen web series: My quick take on Marathi web series ‘रानबाजार’
Saw first three episodes of this Marathi web series, and I have to confess that it's a international class web series. It's production quality can be compared to likes of sacred games and Mirzapur though they were of different genre. This one is political thriller, showcasing the dirty and murky underbelly of our rotten political system.
One might get reminded of Jabbar patel’s सिंहासन, because like sinhasan this series has a fantastic ensemble of Marathi theater artists (Mohan Aghashe, Mohan Joshi, Makarand Anaspure, Sachin Khedekar, Prajakta maali, tejaswini pandit & many more). I think it's a deferred release web series because only 3 episodes were released this Friday, may be few more episodes will be released next Friday.
Production value is ekdum zakhas (एकदम फाड़ूँ) casting is simply awesome hence the performance has to be top-notch, never imagined Prajakta Maali is such a good actor, same can be said about Tejasvini Pandit she is a rare combo of beauty and talent.
Plot might look similar to SLB’s Gangubai, but it slightly different as it also has a political undertone, hence the plot setting and language is packed with profanity. Therefore Dont watch it with kids.
This series is bound to create history and if dubbed we'll in other languages it can be a Pan-India rage.
