Clap worthy “Taali”

Clap worthy “Taali” : My quick take on Sushmita Sen’s “Taali” (Jio Cinema)

Hats off to you, Sushmita Sen, for bringing this character to life so beautifully! And a big round of applause to Ravi Jadhav for steering the ship with your fantastic direction! 👏 Kshitij Patwardhan, your screenplay was absolutely awesome - you deserve a standing ovation! But the ultimate bow goes to the incredible SreeGauri Sawant, our unsung hero - or should I say, heroine! 🌟 Your bravery in sharing your journey is truly inspiring. 🙌

Honestly, I was a little hesitant to watch "Taali" after my last experience with a transgender-themed movie (Horrible Haddi). But now let me confess that this biographical account a Ganesh trapped in the body of Gauri willआपको झिंझोड़ के रख देगा . Absolutely! Hats off to Miss World Sushmita Sen for her courage in taking on such a challenging and unconventional role. Many might have hesitated to tackle a character like this, fearing it could impact their glamorous image, but Sushmita's dedication and talent shine through in her portrayal. She's proven that true beauty goes beyond appearances, and one should applaud her for it!

Director Ravi Jadhav, known for his commendable work in Marathi cinema with films like "Nude" and "Natarang," had already made a mark as someone to watch. And now, with this masterpiece, he's proven his talent once again! His ability to tell compelling stories is truly remarkable, and he continues to impress us with his cinematic skills. Kudos to Ravi Jadhav!

The casting director also needs to be commended for hand-picking some good theater personalities like Nandu Madhav and hemangi kavi. (they play father and sister of gauri). Director beautifully mounts the movie along with the historic Supreme Court case which granted recognition to the third gender, and story of Ganesh becoming Gauri keeps popping up as flashbacks.

It's a brilliant series with some exceptional writing and few Oscar-worthy performance/s, hence in my view this saga of survival, fight for inclusion and identity is not only clap-worthy but also a must-watch series.
