Dictatorship, Democracy & Dabang: My quick take on Bhaijaan’s “Tiger 3” (theatrical release)

Tiger abhi Zinda hai, bhaijaan does it again, one more Massey blockbuster is on the cards. YRF spins off one more episode expanding its spy universe. In terms of production values, stunts and action setups, and choice outdoor locations, YRF is taking any bond or MI or Fast and Furious or Marvel franchise head-on.

The plot of the movie is parallel to that of Pathan, where an R&AW agent (John Abraham) goes rogue, here the agency is changed to ISI and its ambitious agent Imran Hashmi goes rogue. And to pin him down our Tiger Bhai along with his Kat who are ‘working from home’ 😜join hands to save democracy from the clutches of dictatorship in Pakistan.

The screenplay and storyline are as wafer-thin as Bhaijaan’s single expression which he displays throughout the movie. However this is taken care of by some extravagant action pieces, rather it seems the action scenes were shot first and then the plot was developed around it. No doubt the action choreography is damn impressive, especially the हमाम में कटरीना का धोने का सीन्स 😍 is simply awesome. Pathan bhai also joins the fun in a cameo and pays back the Tiger's favor.

As they say in a bhaijaan’s movie, except bhaijaan nothing else is needed, not even a story, not even a strong villain, this is true in T3. The rogue ISI agent played by Emraan Hashmi looks grossly misfit as he neither has an intimidating persona nor his character is fully developed. Katrina, the ISI agent who is now married to our Tiger is the mother of 15 yr old boy (on a lighter note - if this was a 15 yr old girl, then her name would have been ‘Aman-ki-Aasha’), Katrina impressed me with her action scenes. Bhaijaan plays his age and hence looks convincing, he has even attempted to act in some emotional scenes.

The music is forgettable, the plot is Pakistan-centric, and the dialogues are more basic than a “how to spy” manual. Yet, the swag of Bhaijaan, stunning locations, and action overdose make T3 a guilty pleasure. No other releases this Diwali? T3 is going to have a field day at the box office. If you are a Bhaijaan fan then you will not be missing this movie even otherwise it's worth watching and enjoying how this spy universe is shaping up.

Looks like Katrina and Deepika the two ISI agents might have their spin-off episodes soon. Next can we expect Jackie Chan joining the spy universe as the plot might shift to China 🤔.
