Happy teachers day!!!

Happy teachers day : My quick take on “Sajini Shinde's Viral video” (Netflix)

Let me begin by confessing that the title of this movie is a marathon in itself! "Thank God the movie was not as tiering or taxing as its long title," phew! I was saved from a mouthful, which almost convinced me to dodge this flick for months. But wait, it finally popped up on Netflix, so I gathered the courage to embark on this thriller that was initially teased with the more humble title, "Happy teacher's Day."

Surprisingly, it turned out to be a tolerable mystery.

Loaded with stellar theater virtuosos like Subodh Bhave, Chinmay Mandlekar, Nimrat Kaur, and Sumeet Vyas, plus the talented Kshitij Patwardhan's touch in the screenplay, this movie instantly intrigued me. The plot swirls around a teacher, Sajini Shinde, who decides to let her hair down (literally!) in an adult dance bar during her overseas jaunt, only to have a raunchy video of the escapade go viral. The aftermath of this viral catastrophe tackles serious issues like societal stigma and family indifference with commendable finesse.

Radhika Madhan steps into the titular role of Sajini Shinde, earnestly attempting to embody the character. But for me, she seemed a bit out of place in a Maharashtrian family. She's the girl who goes missing in the movie. Subodh Bhave, playing her father, impresses the socks off as a theater artist; his strict father portrayal is so spot-on that I fear Bollywood might pigeonhole him into similar roles! Remember how Marathi theater has always provided Bollywood with fantastic villains? Well, Bhave might just be next in line alongside Nana Patekar, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Mohan Joshi... you name it! And the cherry on top? The ravishing Nimrat Kaur as the investigating police officer and Chinmay Mandlekar as her trusty sidekick.

Is she missing, absconding from social stare and stress, or worse yet, murdered? The director masterfully keeps us on our toes, pondering whodunit, howdunit, or whydunit.

In a nutshell, it's not as horrendous as its title suggests; it's quite a decent watch. Don't miss it for the exceptional performances of Subodh Bhave and Chinmay Mandlekar, and let's not forget Nimrat Kaur, who slays it as a no-nonsense cop!
