Incredible Ingobernable

Incredible Ingobernable : My quick take on Netflix’s web series ‘Ingobernable’

It was by sheer accident I came across this web series with a tongue twisting title ‘Ingobernable’. Later on I learnt that it means ‘ungovernable’ in Spanish. Hence it is obvious that this Mexican tele drama is a political thriller which is set in Los Pinos (Presidential palace of Mexico) where the First Lady is implicated with murder of her husband (President) and she is on run. Kate de Castillo is First Lady and this 50 year old actress has given an awesome performance .I’ve become an instant fan of this actress who will remind you of our own Amrita singh . ( I have started watching another web series of Kate de Castillo- La Reina del sur, which is thriller)

Best part of this political thriller is the way it exposes the ‘dirty politics’ and nexus between power brokers , politicians, drug lords and vested interests across the border (doesn’t it sound similar to what is currently happening in Mumbai today). The series blatantly portrays the men in uniform as the antagonist and corrupt, yet the series is not ‘banned’ in Mexico 🤓. Second best thing about the series is it’s English dubbing which is of top quality (can be compared with Money Heist). Thirdly the beauty of Mexico City is captured so beautifully that you will crave to visit this lovely place. Currently there are 2 seasons available on Netflix, but I am sure the S3 will be released shortly.

The story, performances, action scenes, power games, dirty politics will make you an addict of this Mexican Tandav. Every episode is nearly an hour long and each season is nearly 15-16 episodes long hence you may have to spend few extra hours to binge watch it.

Just avoid watching with kids as there is lots of skin show through out the series.

If you love political thrillers like house of cards, then you can’t miss this.
