Likable Godse: My quick take on the Telugu movie “Godse” (Netflix)

There is a certain enigma attached to the name “Godse”, and to have a movie named after this assassin certainly had me intrigued. Though the movie has only passing reference to Bapuji’s assassination, it's a very contemporary drama about the corrupt system riddled with dirty politicians we live in.

One more reason why leached on to this Telugu movie on Netflix was its main lead ‘Satyadeva’, I was thoroughly impressed by his cameo in Ramsetu. The movie’s plot is impressive, for a moment one may get a feel of watching a classical Malayali movie. The plot is not exactly novel, we have seen it earlier in Gulzar’s Mere Apne or his apprentice N Chandra’s Ankush with a change in setting instead of a local gang war it is a London return NRI vs corrupt government system.

Movies direction and screenplay is impressive albeit in patches. Director should have avoided too much melodrama and should have avoided fast-forwardable songs. If you can oversee these glitches then you will enjoy this Godse. On Netflix, the movie is available in Telugu with English subtitles.

Overall it's a different plot made likeable by good performance by Satyadeva, hence I liked it. You too can watch it, नहीं तो भी world cup अब खतम होने को है.
