Must, bust this story/a of Lust : My quick take on “Lust stories 2” (Netflix)
One of the great thinkers of our times, Ma Silky Balan 😜 had said in “Dirty picture” that a Hindi movies run on three things “entertainment, entertainment and entertainment” , while some makers feel that if this entertainment is laced with sleaziness then box office jackpot is assured. Netflix had tried serving this aphrodisiac anthology sometimes back as season 1, now they are back with season 2 with a newer set of storytellers and an ensemble of good performers like Kajol, Neena Gupta, Amrita Subhash, Vijay Varma, Tamanna, Tilottama Shome, Mrunal Thakur and Kumud Mehta.
One good thing about any anthology is that, as an audience you may end up liking at least one of the mediocre stories, here too, of the four short stories two can be treated as thriller and drama, and of the balance two, one with Tammana might kick yr lusty tammana 🤪 while other one is just off tangent.
Not sure if a talented director like Balki understood the requirements of this project, because after coming up with an impressive movie like चीनी कम, he ended up in making a ‘नानी कम , वात्स्यायन ज़्यादा’ 😜project. Wherein a nani played by Neena Gupta put her foot down and insists on couple to ‘Test drive’ their relationship before saying ‘I Do’ (i.e first Do and then Say I DO 😉)
Konkana sen Sharma, on the other hand showed her brilliance as a director handling the touchy topic of voyeurism. This is probably the best story to watch, some fantabulous performances by Tilottama Shome and Amruta Subhash makes it a must watch plot.
Sujay Ghosh probably stretched the meaning of “Lust” beyond Body , mind to Spirit (literally) , in his Sex with Ex episode he takes us to ‘spiritual’ plane 😉, whereby a fling of spirits is shown. This Vijay Varma and Tammanna starer episode is definitely fast forward-able.
The last story with Kajol and Kumud Mishra is more of a drama with a twist than a lust story. This can be watched for Kumud Mishra’s performance as toxic and obnoxious debt ridden jamindaar, and very underplayed role of Kajol. Also loved the setting on this plot.
Compared to S01 this season has less of a skin show, but the language used can make you feel awkward if you are watching it in a group. Hence keep yr kids away while watching.
