Nations paradigm shift

Nations paradigm shift: My quick take on web Series “Avarodh – The siege within”

If Uri, the surgical strike has pumped up your ‘Josh’, then Avarodh will make you ecstatic. Looks like Sony Liv has caught the pulse of the Indian audience, as this is the second good web series, I have binge-watched on this OTT platform. Surprisingly, Avarodh has not recd the kind of appreciation and accolades as URI had recd.

No doubt URI was a masterpiece, while Avarodh which too talks of hot pursuit and the surgical strike is a more elaborate account of a similar operation. Based on a chapter in the book “We don’t really know fear”, it showcases the daredevil act well beyond the enemy line. After watching web series like Fauda I always wondered whether we will be able to create something as good as Fauda? Looks like Avarodh is a good attempt to match fauda.

In an attempt to give a 360-degree view of the planning of the mission, the makers dwelt a lot on various issues which gives a feel of overstretching into open-heart surgery, what could have been a keyhole surgery. The paradigm shift in the nation’s think tank from a being a peace-loving dove to the predatory eagle and steely resolve by the ruling political party to make this shift known to the world is the crux of the plot.

The casting is simply awesome, looks like Amit Sadh has now found a sweet spot in his career as he is virtually seen in every other web series. Darshan Kumar looks dashing in his mustached avatar. Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale as PM (NaMo) and Neeraj Kabi (Dobhal) and Anant Mahadevan as senior-level bureaucrats, there are other characters of Sushama Swaraj & Rajnath Singh are very impressive.

On-location shooting in the picturesque Kashmir is simply enchanting.

It was sheer coincidence that I watched the series on the Independence Day, hence all I can say is “Mera Bharat Mahan”, and we need more of such jingoism free web series.

Don’t miss it!!
