Pleasantly surprised: My quick take on Zee5’s new movie ‘Dial 100’

Zee5 has this habit of surprising you sometimes with some outstanding content on their OTT platform, remember the state of siege - temple attack. This time with Dial 100 it is bound to thrill you with an awesome thriller filled with surprises and unexpected twists and superlative acting by its cast.

It may remind you of the movie ‘Wednesday, no, the plot is totally different, but the plot setting of confining the audience to a single room (police control room in this case) is very much like Wednesday. It's just a one-night long plot where a lady literally ‘stalks’ a police officer by dialing 100, I initially she appears suicidal but as the story progresses she reveals her sinister desire to kill someone.

Talented Manoj Bajpayee plays the cop and Neena Gupta is the caller, both have given superlative performances, it's a treat to watch how Manoj vajpayee uses his facial expressions to showcase his emotions of fear, helplessness and anxiety. Neena Gupta is a devil incarnate, first time I am watching perform a vilainish role, she is so good that you will start hating her as you watch the movie. Sakshi tanwar is the wife of a cop, she too impresses whenever she is in the frame.

The screenplay is razor-sharp, the director also manages to keep you on edge of your seat most of the time. Once the motive of the villain is revealed the movie drags a bit, still the makers could limit the movie length within 2 hrs.

Overall it's a good watch.
