Saas Bahu and deadly Tango : My quick take on “Saas Bahu and Flamingos” (Disney Hotstar)
Gosh!! Let me take my सांस, at last I did somehow finish watching this 8 episode long series about drugs n dames set in desert. After finishing watching this series I was wondering why ‘flamingos’ in the title!!! Is it because of some beautiful flamingo like nice faces in the series, or is it because of the flamingo’s belligerent nature by which they defend their nests aggressively or is it because of their red flame color which is found in abundance in the series because of some mindless blood bath. Whatever could be the reason, अपून के समझ के बाहर है .
Plot revolves around a सावित्री, no she is not as सती as her name sounds, but she has good connection with यमराज as she helps a lot of guys to travel easily to yamloka. This matriarch is the kalin bhai of this plot, played very well by Bobby of my teenage days 😀. She runs a covert drug business under the guise of exporting local handicrafts. Her two bahu’s not only support her in her business but are also her able lieutenants. Hope by now you got a jist of this सास बहू combo. In short the plot is a female version of Mirzapur albeit a very stylized one where the bomshells carry berettas instead of desi kattas.
Story is set in some utopian state which is in a desert but has sea shore near by, may be the rann of kuttch type place. The production value of the series is simply awesome, the havelis and majestic palaces of Rajasthan are simply wow. Cinematography and Sachin Jigar’s folkish score will haunt you. But for the 8th episode rest episodes have enough scope to fast forward 😜 unless you enjoy skin show or foul language which can give complex to mirzapuri series.
If you love to see a woman empowerment series where the बहू बेटी and बेवाs kick the xxxx out of बबूवा and भाईलोग, then dont miss this series. No doubt there are actors like Naseeruddin shah and Deepak Dobriyal who add some तड़काto the plot, but it is the Saas and Bahu team who steal the show.
