The success of Vikrant after Vikram, however Bollywood’s ‘Rona’ continues

The success of Vikrant after Vikram, however Bollywood’s ‘Rona’ continues : My quick take on kitchaa Sudeep's “Vikrant Rona”

Director/writer Anup Bhandari and his team proves once again that the success of Rangi Tharanga in 2015 was no fluke, they teamed up once again for this murder mystery Cum thriller Cum investigative drama. No doubt the production quality of this movie is way ahead of Rangi Tharanga (it is obvious when you rope in a megastar like kichha in the project) plus the impressive VFX designed keeping its 3D version in mind and above all the haunting BGM has definitely added an extra bit to the final product.

The perils of having a megastar on the roll are that makers tend to justify his stardom and in the process the plot/screenplay gets diluted. Sudeep’s intro scene on the dhow (where he धोs bad guys) plus a few meaningless songs/dances are simply redundant, I wish makers had the heart to chop them off. Similarly, Jaqueline’s item song ‘Ra Ra Rakkamma’ , no doubt is topping the charts now, but in my view was an extra appendage.

I loved the pristine setting of the movie, it reminded me of the evergreen forest of my ’Malnaad’. The perfect setting increased the eeriness of the village where few kids have gone missing and the police inspector of the village is also found dead in mysterious circumstances. Then enters our hero inspector ‘Vikrant Rona’ into the village to solve this mystery. ( I think this character of Rona can become a franchise ). I also enjoyed the way the climax was shot, to me, it looked like a continuous long shot of 15-20 mins.

If you can stand few unwanted songs, some stupid comedy, you will enjoy this Rona.
