Well-made survival drama: My quick take on “Jogi” (Netflix)

Set against the backdrop of anti-Sikh riots, director Ali Zafar delivers one of his best movies off late. This event is one of the darkest pages of our history, full marks to the Director for handling this sensitive issue we’ll. Set in alleys of Trilok puri of Delhi, it’s a story of friendship, bravery, and humanity where friends come together to save fellow community members who are being hunted by political goons.

One good thing about the writing of the plot is that they have kept the riots as a backdrop & dwelt more on the survival story. On the performance front, Diljit Dosanjh has probably given his best performance till date. So do Zeeshan Ayub and kumud Mishra, these two NSD actors simply rock.

Director manages to keep the audience on the edge of their seat (most of the time) in this dark drama. The love story track of Jogi shown in between slackens the ‘tautness’ of the plot, but for this side story, Jogi is impressive.

After long hiatus, Netflix finally managed to come up with good Hindi content.

Watch it.
