आत्मनिर्भर आत्मा 🤓: My quick take Amazon Prime’s Malayalam movie ‘Cold case’

A lukewarm horror-o-murder mystery is not so chilly as the title suggests. I watched it because of Prithviraj, as I was impressed with his last movie ‘lucifer’ wherein he had directed Mohanlal and did a cameo. Here he is donning the IPS badge and is given a task to solve a murder case.

There is also an investigative reporter played by Aditi Balan, who too is investigating the murder case because a shaman suggests to her that there is a spirit in her new house and spirit wants to communicate with her. Both the investigations are taking place simultaneously without each other's knowledge but the funny part is that the case ultimately gets resolved by the आत्मा taking revenge on the murderer. I fail to understand, If this was to be shown then why show the investigation track???? I also fail to understand why this spirit is stationed in just one place it could have gone to the murderer's place and haunted n hunted him there.

There are so many redundant tracks in the story that you will wonder why it was added to the plot? For eg., a Movie begins with shots of exorcism being performed by men of a different faith. However the lush green wilderness of God’s own country is simply enchanting, the background score helps to create the required eeriness, the performance of all the actors is ok (nothing extraordinary), beautiful locations and awesome houses of Kerala makes this not so cold story somewhat watchable. Else this cold case was a damp squib for me
