Watching this web series’Flesh’ is like dipping your self in a pond filled with with ‘flesh’ eating piranhas. It is a stupidly violent, grossly stuffed with all kind of sex scenes, indecently filled with profanity ,web series. However bad a movie or web series is made the makers do follow a cardinal rule of not showing young ones committing gruesome murder, but this web series makes young ones who are barely 6-9 yrs old committing grotesque killings, yuck
There are some big names associated with this project like Siddharth Anand who has given hits like ‘War’ and ‘bang bang’, (maybe because of that series is filled with ‘bang bang’ scenes indiscriminately) and a pooja Surti who has given us a classic like ‘Andhadhun’ , that is precisely why I wasted five and half hours to watch this meaningless crass series. For the first time I saw a series on Erosnow OTT platform and the experience was so pathetic that I feel calling the provider as ‘Erase now’ .
The plot of series is somewhat similar to Rani Mukherjee’s Mardani movie, it’s all about a prostitution racket and Human trafficking and a female cop who goes behind the bad guys. Had the plot had limited only to mardani masala, one could have liked it. But this one begins like a crime thriller ends up becoming a TV soap opera or a family revenge saga.
The only known face in the series for me was Swara Bhaskar, in fact she is known for her leftist views and antiNaMo rant. Let us set aside her anti establishment stands /views and objectively check if she did justice to high octane role? Then my answer is Big No. She neither has personality to look like an ASP nor she has athelitism befitting an agile police officer. Maybe Swara is under an illusion that spouting out profanity in every uttered sentence , is called a acting .
However there are some streaks of brilliance in the movie like showing a book being read by a character to establish her carefree character, the suggestive wall posters in few scenes, I also enjoyed a parallel story track running along the plot which appears to be an independent track initially. Looks like Akshay Oberoi as antagonist has a good shelf life, he will the next Gulshan Gover. But such brilliances are very few as series is filled with perversion, profanity and pathetic performances.
Save your 5 hours, watch Mardaani once again instead.
