डेरिंगबाज: My quick take on web series’Rangbaaz- phirse’

I had heard and seen a few B grade or even worse grade movies, now my record is intact with web series watch too. Yes, I am the डेरिंगबाज who sat through the entire series (obviously it was not a binge-watch, it took me nearly 25 days to muster up the courage to finish this 9 episode series.

Frankly speaking, it was the cast with some known faces of good actors like jimmy Shergil, Zeeshan Ayub, Gul Pannag, Sushant Singh, Sharad Kelkar and Marathi mulgi स्पृहा जोशी intrigued me to watch this class-war riddled socio-politico-choro-polico drama.

Looks like web series wale are fed up with UP now (after Mirzapur, apharan, bhaukaal.....) hence the plot setting moves to India’s sandy Texas - Rajasthan, but the story remains the same warring factions of jats and Rajputs, bahubalis, guns, and goon and gangs, political dirty games, bootlegging and lots of mindless crap. I don’t know why actors join such low IQ series, I could understand Jimmy Shergill plight because for the first time in any plot he is ‘full time married’ ( wife does not run away ) hence he would’ve lapped up this role, but why talented Shushant Singh or jinxed Zeeshan Ayub (who is yet to recover from Tubelight, Raees, thugs, zero’s shock, he can be termed as best talent picking worst scripts) could accept this mediocre series. आपली जोशीबाई plays a coy ghunghat wielding dame, Sharad Kelkar would be kicking himself after receiving rave reviews after playing Chatrapati in Tanhaaji, as to why he picked this stupid role of a rival goon leader.

But for some exotic Havelis of Rajasthan, there is nothing eye-catching in this series. Don’t dare to become a daringbaaz, instead you can have a repeat watch of Mirzapur or Bhaukaal at least you can improve your ‘profanity vocabulary’
