बिना रूह की ‘रूही’ : My Quick Take on new film ‘Roohi’

The movie was touted to be from the makers of a box office hit ‘Stree’ which was a damn good movie of चुड़ैल universe. Same team of writers directors and few actors have teamed up again and have come up with this so called ‘horror comedy’ which incidentally has neither (neither nerve wrecking horror nor laughter filled comedy). One may get horrifying experience in theaters where you will have to watch this crap without fellow audience.

Don’t worry, you can save some money by avoiding going to theaters to watch this as this is being bought over by Netflix and soon it will be released on OTT platform.

Set in some fictional town of north India which boasts of having some stupid tradition of kidnapping brides and forcing them into wedlock with someone else. Rajkumar rao and his side kick Varoon sharma (who has by now taken PhD in doing similar roles of a side kick) are the funny men of the plot, who kidnaps Roohi (played by Janhvi kapoor) only to discover that she is not alone (!!). This Roohi is possessed by ‘Afzha’ , a chudail , and then the story is all about how this ‘रूह आफझा’ is to be separated. ( I am not sure if Hamdard guys will find it funny as their age old brand gets a spooky flavor 😜)

On performance front , Rajkumar Rao continues his hamming from where left us in Ludo , Varun Sharma is his usual self , Janhvi Kapoor has proved once again that she carries the dominant genes of Bonny kapoor instead of Sreedevi’s talent pool (poor girl will always be compared with her effervescent mother). Unfortunately there was no Pankaj Tripathi in the movie to bail them out.

Since the lockdown measures are becoming stringent nowadays, it is better to stay at home and enjoy a glass of ‘Rooh Afzha’ instead of walking down to theaters to see another ‘Rooh Afzha’. stay home and watch India England T20 instead 😜.

P.S - Not sure why this chudail movie was released on ‘Women’s day’ 🧐 (कुछ तो गड़बड़ है)
