बिहारबा सिंघमबा 😁 : My quick take on the web series “khakee: The Bihar chapter” (Netflix)

Two years back I had stumbled upon an interview on the kitabwala episode where the author “Amit Lodha” was interviewed. It was bit odd to see an author in uniform, Amit Lodha was in his khaki gear while giving the interview. It was nice to see an IITian opting for civil services hence becoming IPS OFFICER. He was talking about his book “Bihar diaries : True story of how Bihar’s most dangerous criminal was caught”. He had indicated that a web series was being planned on the book, and lo, the series is ready and running on Netflix now.

Hats off to Niraj Pandey to have beautifully adapted this book in a 7 episode long web series. As we know that Niraj Pandey has given us some promising series and movies like Special ops, Baby, Rustom & special 26. Here too he does not disappoint us while adapting this memoir of a Dabang police officer.

This cat n mouse plot is about an upright Police officer and a hardened criminal who kills people for fun. What I loved about this series is its rustic setting (not sure if it was shot in real locations), secondly the hand-picked cast of great performers like Ravi kishan, Ashutosh Rana, Abhimanyu Singh, and Jatin Sarma. While Karan Tacker and Avinash Tiwary play the Vikram Vedha of this story. Thirdly makers carefully avoided any Bollywoodish-style action in the series, they have kept it very banal and raw as it happens in real life. Screen play is spiced with some funny one-liners which goes well with the plot.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series, in fact I binge-watched it in one go. It's a well-made series which is based on ‘True story’ and has an impressive ensemble of actors pulling out superlative performances.
