#DONTMISSIT: My Quick take on Amazon’s “#home”

Just don't miss out on this lovely film.

It has now become a habit for me to commend the Malayalam film industry for consistently producing high-quality content films. Movies like this (Home, Kuruthi, Malik,.....) have destroyed my notion that the Malayalam business is just confined to Mamooties and Mohanlals; it's a rare industry where even a 70-year-old Mammukkoya or a 65-year-old Indrans can hit you for a glorious six.

What begins as a simple story setting of a modest family with a retired father, a sick grandfather, an overworked mother, one film wonder screenwriter and director son, and his younger smartphone addict "bro." Initially, the film moves at a sluggish speed, giving you the impression that you're seeing a Tarachand Badjyata film without the nach gana. One should applaud the writer and director for how smoothly he shifts gears and keeps you glued to your seats. Take a bow, gentlemen.

Petit Indrans is the kingpin of the movie, this technologically challenged father wants to keep abreast with “smart” technology and catch up with gen-next. The movie is all about trials and tribulation of the process of becoming a “smart” father. Indrans has a very unassuming personality, with such personalities he could have got typecast in menial roles of office boys or home servants, However, kudos to the casting director for making him the primary protagonist of the film, since you can't see anybody else playing this character other than Indrans. He is a masterclass of acting, he shows us how to communicate in silence, his pauses, his glint in eyes, his deadpan expression, his dialog delivery, his suppressed pain after hearing insulting dialogs, is simply fantastic.

The movie makes you laugh, makes you smile, and will make you remember your home and parents. The pains they have taken to bring you up and make you whatever you are today. Many frames brought back my sweet memories of my home, my amma, my appa & my donna, channa, and Akka. After all, home is where you have the freedom to be imperfect. Having stayed away from “home” for over three decades now suddenly has brought some uneasiness in me.

The story, Direction, the cinematography is of top-notch quality, and all the performers are simply wow!!

One may complain about 2 hours plus the length of the movie, but for me, if something this long can make me happy and feel at home then “lambai acchi hai”

#Home is #dontmissit according to me.
