RRR - reuse, Recycle, refurbish

RRR (Reuse, Recycle, Refurbish): My quick take on Kannada Movie “Vedha”

Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar has come up with a dark, Revenge thriller as his 125th movie. Best part of this 125th movie is that mega star plays his age, where he plays a doting father to a hapless teenager who has been sexually assaulted. Plot is similar to 2017 Sanjay Dutt/Aditi Rao movie “Bhoomi”. This heart wrenching saga is all about Father and daughter duo on prowl to seek badla from bad guys.

Looks like Director Harsha was heavily influenced/inspired by Pushpa’s, KGFs & kantaras as you will find many scenes and frames similar in the movie (hence RRR- Reuse, Recycle, Refurbish) thus making it a seeti maar front bencher product. Plot has few positives which allows all female cast to leave a lasting impression, so much so that Shiva Rajkumar appears to be a second fiddle to all these female cast. Aditi Sagar who plays the victim girl has given a “rock star performance” literally (as she is seen bashing up baddies with “rock”), her pent-up anger, her about to erupt silence, her body language, her action scenes are all simply superlative. Ganavi Laxman who plays her mother, who is equally a tough cookie, is equally impressive as a mother tigress. Then there is a lady Police officer played by Veena Ponnappa who is following this father-daughter Jodi and a sex worker played by Sweta Chengappa (looks like she will have an important role in Part 2), these ladies are impressive too.

Overall treatment given by the director will remind you of all major blockbusters, it’s a concoction masala of all hits with a lame attempt to make a perfect biryani but ended up with a pulao. Had the director chopped of the dance routines instead of chopping off limbs in action scenes then the movie would have become darker and more appealing. Action scenes are very gory and bloody with machetes and sickles used rampantly.

Movie can be watched for its strong message (No to Women atrocities). Currently running in Theaters.
